LAUNCH OF MAJOR WEB 2.0 TRAVEL DIRECTORY

Published November 3rd, 2008

WorldCurious.com, a new web venture has launched a directory specially designed to connect intellectually-curious travelers with approved listings of international adventures, at one single, uncluttered Internet destination.

Students, language-learning travelers, eco-minded adventurers, and organizations who provide travel and study abroad programs can attest to the current gaudy, banner-ad-riddled, ultra-sponsored, specific or deficient landscape of study abroad directories available on the Internet. WorldCurious.com is ramping up its database with 350 programs already listed and growing daily.

“We have been in the Study and Intern Abroad business for nearly 10 years now so we have had a lot of experience in this sector. Having looked over your website we are excited and encouraged by what you have to offer both for us, the provider, and potential candidates looking for an experience abroad.” -Adelante Abroad

Many travel directories specialize in specific global regions or niche categories. WorldCurious.com aims to become the #1 comprehensive resource for intellectually-curious and eco-friendly travelers, offering sections for volunteer abroad, study abroad, language schools, international internships, and eco-adventure travel. The site is already generating buzz in the travel industry. Says Jessica Miller from Global Leadership Adventures, “We offer high school travel programs to web savvy teenagers who don’t like a lot of clutter. WorldCurious allows our message to get out clearly to our audience.”

At WorldCurious, organizations that offer trips in any of the categories may list their programs for free-without competitors’ ads on the same page. They may also upload their full-color logo for prominent display, along with embedded video or any multimedia.

In addition to the directory, WorldCurious has features that create a sense of community around the site and its users including trip reports written by travelers and photos served via Flickr submissions.
