Organic food is healthier

Three recent European projects have just released results that back this up, presenting evidence that tomatoes, peaches and apples all have a higher nutritional quality when eaten organic, rather than non-organic.
This research has discovered that these organic fruits contain more ‘dry matter’, whuch holds the important nutrients such as vitamin C, B-carotene, flavonoids etc. Studies done in the past have found similar things, with organic tomatoes containing higher quantities of vit C, A, and lycopene.
The scientists involved in this most recent study commented, “organic cherry and standard tomatoes can be recommended as part of a healthy diet including plant products which have shown to be of value in cancer prevention.â€Â
Peter Melchett of the Soil Association UK, chimed in to add, “this is a very rigorous study. There is clear evidence that a range of organic foods contain more beneficial nutrients and vitamins and less of things known to have a detrimental health effect such as saturated fats and nitrates.â€Â
