Simple sputum test to detect genetic signs of lung cancer

Washington, Jan. 19: Researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine suggest that the DNA coughed up along with phlegm can help detect lung cancer, and are developing an inexpensive and non-invasive gene probe to diagnose early stage lung cancer in current and former smokers.
