Rich media technology firm PointRoll has opened a new London office, as the US-based company begins its expansion into the European market.
PointRoll serves rich media ads for agencies, advertisers and publishers using a number of formats, including video streaming, polling, gaming, instant email and data collection.

The firm said it is currently working on a number of interactive advertising campaigns for UK and Pan- European brand advertisers across a variety of sectors including entertainment, consumer goods and financial. Its US clients include Universal Studios Home Entertainment, eBay and Wal-Mart.

PointRoll also works on web sites and maintains global relationships with media owners such as Yahoo!, MSN, iVillage and Business Week online.

The UK office is managed by Kathryn Stevenson, commercial director, who has moved to the UK from the US operation.

Stevenson said: “Rich media is an innovative medium that is not being fully leveraged. It is our belief that creativity should lead technology, not the other way around. We aim to cut through technical issues and jargon that make rich media appear difficult and, ultimately, deliver campaigns that are creative, user-friendly, and hi-impact.â€Â

PointRoll is a subsidiary of Gannett, owner of Newsquest Media Group. In 2005, PointRoll said it served over 29 million rich media ad units, with 5 billion in video alone.
