Goodies back by popular demand ?

Goodies founder Graeme Garden has welcomed the fact that the trio’s nostalgia show Return of the Goodies attracted 3.3 million viewers.

BBC Two’s 30 December show gained “a pretty respectable viewing figure for a nostalgia clip show”, he said. The Goodies left BBC for ITV in 1981.

But Garden said he would not pressure the BBC to repeat the original series.

“We’ve been doing that for 25 years without success. Perhaps now it’s time for others to lead a campaign.”

A BBC Two spokeswoman said it was “too early to say” whether it would now repeat past episodes of The Goodies.
