Published September 27th, 2005

Palm Inc. formally announced at the CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment show here Monday the company’s first cell phone based on Microsoft Windows Mobile software, rather than its own operating system, which powered previous Treos.

The new Treo, which is currently called “Treo on Windows,” will be available for Verizon Wireless customers in early 2006. It will be powered by an Intel processor and use Verizon’s EVDO network. Pricing has not been set.
